Introduction:
Under the banner of Tentultala TETRA Initiatives, a group of young professionals with varied experience in participatory planning, watershed management, livelihood enhancing activities, monitoring and evaluation of development programme as well as strong acumen for community mobilization have come together to change lives, in whatever little way it can, of the individuals, families and the community, especially the vulnerable sections of the society. It also has a strong volunteer base to address the issues pertaining to natural resource management, organic farming to make farming more productive and user friendly. The organisation has an advisory board comprising government officials, Social, Agriculture development professionals and activists with strong commitment towards development, especially in the rural areas of West Bengal.
Vision:
Tentultala TETRA Initiatives visualizes a just and equitable society with informed citizens coming together to shape their own lives with participatory development processes. It also visualizes the role of the civil society and the government as facilitators in ensuring achievement of the development aspirations of the people.
Mission:
Achieving the objectives of participatory development through professional support to the Government, civil society organisations, institutions having corporate social responsibility and thereby bridging the gaps between the vulnerable sections of the society and the development professionals.
Objective:
- To enhance capacities for the marginalized section of the society for individual and holistic socio-economic development.
- To expedite new livelihood opportunities for yearning communities.
- To empower the underprivileged section through Legal support service.
- To provide consultancy on rural development through skill and institutional acumen and social issues.
Approach:
To achieve the vision and mission of the organization, Tentultala TETRA Initiatives emphasizes on the following:
- Strengthen capacity of the community and individuals in planning and implementation of development programmes, both in the government and non-government sectors
- Provide professional support to institutions in organizing PRA/ PLA exercises for participatory development
- Help stakeholders develop watershed-based natural resource management policies and procedures for comprehensive development
- Promote organic farming and other farmer centric agricultural practices
- Organise farmers’ field schools [FFS] and farmers’ water schools [FWS] to promote productive use of water with strong emphasis on Soil -water conservation & Good Agriculture Practices [GAP]
- Provide planning, implementation and monitoring support for the livelihood interventions by the government departments as well as the civil society counterparts
- Support in concurrent and end of the programme evaluation of different development interventions
